Blue Jays Minor League Report: Hutchison, Pentecost strong again
Scores and analysis for Toronto Blue Jays’ minor league games played on Sunday, May 15th
Buffalo Bisons (17-20) – 1
Norfolk Tides (13-25) – 2
Drew Hutchison is still looking for the win column, but it’s not for a lack of effort. The right-hander threw six innings of five-hit ball, allowing two unearned runs and striking out eight. Hutchison’s record drops to 0-2, but his ERA sits at an impressive 3.05.
Junior Lake led the way on offence, hitting a solo home run and doubling in a 2-for-4 day. Buffalo will be looking for an offensive uptick, however, as even their hottest bats in Jesus Montero and Matt Dominguez have seen their averages fall to .279 and .260 respectively.
New Hampshire Fisher Cats (18-17) – 4
Hartford Yard Goats (23-13) – 2
New Hampshire got solid pitching in their series finale, holding the Yard Goats to just six hits. Jeremy Gabryszwski earned his second win of the season, allowing two runs on four hits over six innings and striking out six.

Daniel Schlereth and Jason Berken picked up holds with clean frames before Kentucky Wesleyan alumnus Chris Smith locked down his first save of 2016.
The bottom half of the lineup did most of the damage offensively, with catcher Wellington Castillo doubling in a 2-for-4 day. Ian Parmley was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two stolen bases while Roemon Fields drove in the winning run in the top of the ninth with a sacrifice fly.
Canadian left-hander Shane Dawson (1-1, 2.52 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Fisher Cats on Monday.
Dunedin Blue Jays (15-22) – 4
Brevard County Manatees (13-24) – 5
Top Blue Jays pitching prospect Conner Greene got the start on Sunday, pitching five and two-thirds innings on 89 pitches (59 strikes). Greene allowed four hits and two earned runs, striking out two and walking two.
He was followed out of the bullpen by Alonzo Gonzalez, who was hit with the blown save and loss after allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits in one and a third. Colton Turner pitched two clean frames to close out the loss.
Devon Travis batted leadoff, singling and driving in a run in three at-bats. An Emilio Guerrero double brought in a run late. Both Anthony Alford and Richard Urena took 0-for-4 days, with Alford striking out three times.

Lansing Lugnuts (18-16) – 7
South Bend Cubs (21-14) – 6
Eleven hits for the Lugnuts on Sunday as six different players chipped in with an RBI. Max Pentecost contributed two hard-hit singled in a 2-for-4 day, keeping his average at .500 early in his 2016 season. Juan Kelly, Lane Thomas, and Josh Almonte all had multi-hit games.
Ryan Cook had another tough outing, allowing six earned runs over five and a third. The Cubs had five hits off Cook and worked five walks.
Dan Lietz picked up his second win of the season in relief, throwing two and two-third innings of shutout ball. Josh DeGraaf earned his second save of the season with two scoreless frames of his own.
