Blue Jays MiLB Recap – Hutch with a strong outing for Buffalo
Blue Jays minor league scores and analysis for games played on Tuesday, May 10th
Buffalo Bisons @ Durham Bulls (Win 2-1)
Record 15-17 (Streak W4)
The Bisons continue their charge as they came back late in the game to win their 4th straight. A lead-off home run by Dalton Pompey kicked things off for the Herd. Pompey blasted a tape measure shot over the Blue Monster in left for his first home of the season. Drew Hutchison allowed a run in the first inning but would follow that with 5 shutout innings. He pitched six innings total with one earned run on five hits. He also only walked two batters and struck out six. This was the bounce back start Hutch was looking for after a tough outing against Syracuse in his last outing.
The bullpen followed Hutch’s lead and continued shutting down the Bulls offense. Pat Venditte picked up the win after a two-inning outing in which he allowed only two hits and a walk while striking out three. In the 9th Junior Lake singled to lead off the inning and advanced to second on a wild pitch. With runners on second and first after a walk to Casey Kotchman, A. J. Jimenez popped a single that squeaked through the infielders into right field to score the speedy Lake to take the lead. Dustin Antolin came in and recorded the save after a shutdown 9th.
Pitching Grade – A
Offensive Grade – C+
Line of the Game – Drew Hutchison 6 IP, 5 hits, 1 ER, 2 Walks, and 6 Strikeouts

The Fisher Cats won this one with an excellent all-around attack. The pitching and the offence were stellar in this one as the Fisher cats really poured it on. Jeremy Gabryszwski got the start and had an amazing outing. Gabryszwski threw six innings and allowed only one run on five hits. Gabryszwski had his control working in this game and did not walk a batter and threw 60 of his 92 pitches for strikes. Gabryszwski also struck out six batters to round out his great start. Jason Berken got the save as he pitched three innings and only allowed one hit.
On offence, the Cat attack led by incredible outings from Rowdy Tellez and Roemon Fields. Fields finished with a 4-for-5 day and scored three times which included a rare steal of home. Tellez looked like the RBI machine many are hoping he will turn into in yesterdays game. Tellez went 3-for-4 and finished only a triple shy of the cycle. Tellez hit a two-run homer in the 5th as part of the four-run inning. Matt Dean also collected a pair of RBIs and scored a run as he went 1-for-5.
Pitching Grade – A+
Offensive Grade – A+
Line of the Game – Rowdy Tellez 3-4 with a double, a home run, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI
Dunedin Blue Jays @ Clearwater Threshers (Loss 3-4)
Record 14-17
A late rally by the Threshers led to extra innings that finally ended with a Thresher walkoff in the 13th inning. An early lead evaporated as the Threshers battled there way back from a 3-1 deficit going into the 9 led to a D-Jays loss. Conner Greene started the game and battled some control issues as he walked six batters in 5.2 innings. He was able to minimize the damage and only allowed 1 run while striking out 3. In the 9th two unearned runs resulted in a tie that led to the extra innings. D.J. Davis and L.B. Dantzler collected a hit and an RBI each. Jason Leblebijian supplied most of the offense in a 2-5 outing. He hit a solo home run in the 7th and also scored twice.
