Scores and analysis for Toronto Blue Jays minor league games played on Thursday, April 28th

Buffalo Bisons (9-12)   –   0
Rochester Red Wings (9-11)   –   4

The triple-A Bisons managed just four hits off Red Wings’ starter Logan Darnell, who threw a complete game shutout on 105 pitches. Remarkably, Darnell did so without striking out a single Bisons batter.

An Alexi Casilla double was the only noteworthy offence of the day.

On the mound, left-hander and Montreal native Chris Leroux pitched a strong six innings, allowing just one earned run on six hits while striking out five. Pat McCoy followed with two innings, allowing one run before Pat Venditte was roughed up for three hits and a run in his lone inning of work.

On Friday, Drew Hutchison is scheduled to face top Philadelphia Phillies prospect Mark Appel and the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

Dunedin Blue Jays (11-10)   –   4
Tampa Yankees (14-7)   –   5

Dunedin fell in a three-game sweep to the Yankees on Thursday with top pitching prospect Conner Greene on the mound.

More from Jays Journal

Greene fell victim to the home run ball, allowing a grand slam in the third inning and a solo shot in the fifth. The right-hander left after five and two-thirds innings having allowed five runs (four earned) on ten hits, walking three and striking out just one.

Matt Dermody cleaned up the sixth innings before handing off to Bo Schultz, who worked one inning of clean relief as he begins his climb back to the Major League bullpen. Lefty Tim Mayza took the final two innings, and as the D-Jays have become accustomed to, he provided a shutdown effort. After allowing just one hit with a strikeout over two innings, his ERA now sits at 0.63.

A Derrick Loveless double was the D-Jays only extra-base hit of the game, driving in two runs in the second inning. Ryan McBroom (0-for-2) and Jason Leblebijian (2-for-3) also collected RBIs. Michael Bourn batted leadoff again, but went 0-for-3 with a walk and was picked off at first base.

Lansing Lugnuts (11-7)   –   6
Beloit Snappers (10-11)   –   1

The Lugnuts stole a whopping seven bases in their 6-1 win over the Snappers on Thursday, including two apiece from Lane Thomas and Gunnar Heidt.

Left-fielder Andrew Guillotte had another strong performance, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two walks, and a stolen base of his own. First-baseman Juan Kelly and designated hitter Ryan Hissey both collected two RBIs.

Top pitching prospect Sean Reid-Foley was excellent in three innings of work, allowing one run on four hits and striking out five (52 pitches thrown). Southern Mississippi alumnus Conor Fisk earned the win (2-1) with a five-inning relief performance, blanking the Snappers and striking out five batters before Dan Lietz cleaned up in the ninth.
