Toronto Blue Jays first baseman and designated hitter Chris Colabello has been suspended for 80 games without pay by Major League Baseball after testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance named dehydrochlormethyltestosterone.

Colabello has struggled this season, hitting just .069 after a breakout 2015 with the Blue Jays where he hit 15 home runs and batted .321.

No further details have been released by Major League Baseball. Colabello reportedly held a closed-door meeting with his teammates today.

The Blue Jays are now left with a roster choice on their hands. They will have the option to call up another first baseman, such as Jesus Montero or Casey Kotchman. The club could also choose to elevate another outfielder that could factor into the designated hitter mix, such as Domonic Brown.

Stay tuned for details as they emerge.
