Blue Jays hold off Rays for 10-8 win

After the win last night the Blue Jays clinched a playoff birth. While that is nice to see they have their sights set on the AL East title. With that in mind they sent out their ace David Price to the mound in game 2 of a 3 game series versus the Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays counted with their young blossoming ace Chris Archer. So far this year Chris Archer has been golden against the Jays going 3-1 with a 0.93 ERA.

    Game Notes:

    • Today had two of the better pitchers in the AL face each other. I think nobody saw how well both teams were going to hit. Both David Price and Chris Archer combined for only 8.2 IP. They were roughed up for 16 hits and 13 earned runs. The combined ERA was an ugly 14.27.
    • Russell Martin matched his career best home run total with his 21st today. He was able to reach that mark in 2012 with the New York Yankees.
    • Kevin Pillar picked up his 25th stolen base of the season. He is 25 for 28 for a healthy 89% success rate.
    • Jose Bautista hit his 38th and 39th home runs of the season this afternoon marking his 5th multi home run game. This puts Jose on pace to reach the 40 home run plateau for the 3rd time in his career.
