Blue Jays’ Josh Donaldson & Troy Tulowitzki: Caption This Photo
The Toronto Blue Jays are in the thick of a very exciting playoff race. This club is taking care of business with a professional work ethic. They are not celebrating too much. They’re not getting ahead of themselves. They’re focused. The final month of the season will be a grind. They know that.
But, that didn’t stop some of the boys from having a little fun. David Price recently tweeted a photo of his teammates, Josh Donaldson and Troy Tulowitzki sitting on the training table. The same table. As Price tweeted, “Who sits like this?” The facial expressions and the positioning make this a photo that I could not resist for another installment of “Caption this Photo”.
Toronto Blue Jays
Many have noted that Tulo seems to be rather stoic in comparison to the outgoing personalities that have been seen in the dugout. When he smiles, it becomes a national news flash. His reputation as a fierce competitor is well known and it is showing through his demeanor. Heck, even when he dipsy doed over Matt Wieters to make it back to first base safely, he didn’t even appear to acknowledge the sheer awesomeness of the play. His face remained deadpan. That is why this photo is so great. His deadpan expression is priceless.
Josh Donaldson just might be the American League Most Valuable Player. He’s certainly making Mike Trout‘s return to the throne tenuous. The Bringer of Rain is leading the league in runs scored and runs driven in. He’s brought an intense style of play that hasn’t been seen ’round these parts in a while. Diving into the stands to try and protect Marco Estrada‘s no-no, tagging and scoring on a pop up to deep second base and stretching a single into a double are all examples of his doing everything he can to win. He plays with deep intensity. Again, that is what makes this photo so awesome.
Both players appear to be taking a break from the intensity and letting their proverbial hair down. Perhaps that has something to do with the playful spirit David Price has brought to Toronto. I mean, the guy bought scooters for his team. Grown men, playing at the highest level of competition in the field and they’re playing on scooters. David Price might be the perfect balance for this club. His laid back, fun loving personality just might be the perfect addition. If it leads to photographic gold like the photo in question here, I am all for it.
