After the day that Edwin Encarnacion had yesterday it’s tough to talk about top performers, but here we go….The Toronto Blue Jays farm system finished with a record of 3 and 4 on games played on August 29th, 2015. The systems top performers were Jeff Francis, Michael De La Cruz, Christian Lopes, Dwight Smith Jr., Richard Urena, and Matt Dean.

Jeff Francis was stellar in 8 innings, giving up one run (Dustin Ackley home run) on 2 hits. Francis didn’t walk a batter and struck out 6 while inducing 13 ground ball outs to zero fly ball outs. Ryan Tepera pickup his 3rd save with a clean 9th.
Dalton Pompey hit his first Triple-A home run of 2015. Pompey is seeing the ball really well right now. He has done a really job of working the count and having long at-bats. Andy Burns collected 2 hits. Matt Hague hit a 2-run bomb (88 RBI), his 11th, which put the team up in the 6th.

Conner Greene (2-1 5.68 ERA) struggled again, allowing 12 runs in his last 3 starts over his last 13 innings. This coming after not allowing any runs in his previous 4 starts. Take the good with the bad. Fatigue might be kicking in, as he has pitched 126.1 IP in 2015. His previous high in innings pitched was 59.1 in 2014. On this day, Greene lasted 3 innings allowing 4 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2. Dustin Antolin struck out 5 over 3 innings while one run. Cory Burns allowed one run in 2 innings.
Roemon Fields was 1-for-3 with a run, a walk and a K. Dwight Smith Jr hit 2 doubles (22, 23) and drove in his 40th RBI. Melky Mesa hit his 4th bomb and drove in 2 RBI.

Dunedin scored 2 in the 1st and 5th, and one in the 3rd and 6th. They improved to 57-73 with the win. Alonzo Gonzalez allowed 4 runs on 7 hits while striking out 6 in 4.2 innings. Matt Dermody (4-1, 4.32 ERA) got the win after pitching 2.0 innings and allowing 1 run. Brad Allen and Wil Browning (SV 22) were scoreless over the final 2.1 innings. Ex-D-Jay Jairo Labourt struck out 9 and allowed 5 runs in 5 innings to fall to 2-12.
Christian Lopes had a solid day at the plate with a double, two singles, 2 runs, and a stolen base. Matt Dean collected 2 hits and drove in 4 RBI. L.B. Dantzler, Ian Parmley, and Boomer Collins also collected doubles.
