Dunedin Blue Jays vs Clearwater Threshers (Win 10-2)
On a night where the offense was making it rain runs a solid pitching performance can get over looked. Shane Dawson had a stellar start to allow the offense to run away with the game. He threw 6 innings of 5 hit ball and struck out 5 to allow only 1 run. The D-Jay’s bullpen would follow suit and only allow 1 run through the remaining 3 innings. Griffin Murphy pitched 2 innings of no hit ball and Brady Dragmire battled through the 9th inning. Dragmire would allow 2 hits and a walk which lead to a late run for the Threshers.
The offense was on fire for the D-Jay’s and it got kick started in the 3rd which would end up being a 7 run inning. 4 singles, a hit batter, and a double led to 5 runs to start the inning. The 3rd was capped off by a Dickie Joe Thon 2 run homer to left. Now that the Threshers were looking at a 7-0 deficit the D-Jay’s sought to bury them. The pitching held them in check as the offense rolled out another 3 runs in the 6th. Derrick Loveless knocked a 2 run double to Reeves and Alford. That was quickly followed by an RBI single from Matt Dean to make the score 10-1 at the time. The score would lock in at 10-2 before things were over but the 2 big innings supported a great team effort Sunday
Line of the game
Anthony Alford 3-5 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored
