New Hampshire Fisher Cats vs Erie Sea Wolves (Win 8-3)

Cats power pushes them to a win in this one.  Austin Bibens-Dirkx got the Fisher Cats off to a great start as he did not give up a run until the 3rd inning.  This allowed the Cats bats to get them off to an early lead.  Bibens-Dirkx would pitch an incredible game through his 7 innings of work.  Bibens-Dirkx would strike out 7 in the 7 innings while only allowing a walk and 6 hits.  John Anderson would come on for the remainder of the game and allow 2 runs in the 8th after he got off to a rocky start.  He would settle down and keep the score at 8-3 to close out the score book.

On offense the Cats pounced on Erie pitching.  Ryan Schimpf got the party started with a solo jack in the 2nd inning.  In the 3rd the Cats would strike with a string of singles that would lead to 2 runs.  Jorge Flores, Roemon Fields, and Dwight Smith Jr. singled to collected the first of the 2 runs and then a Kevin Nolan fielders choice plated Fields.  The flood gates would swing wide open in the 5th after Schimpf lead off with a single.  K.C. Hobson smashed a home run to right center to get the inning off to a great start.  A single by Flores scored 2 and a sac fly by Nolan crossed another runner to make it a 5 run inning for the Cats.  The offense was clicking for the Cats in the win and the solid pitching by Dirkx brought it all together in the win.,

Line of the game

Hard to choose but the great pitching always beats good hitting right?

Austin Bibens-Dirkx 7 innings, 6 hits, 1 run, 1 walks, 7 strike outs.

Dunedin Blue Jays vs Clearwater Threshers (Win 10-2)

On a night where the offense was making it rain runs a solid pitching performance can get over looked.  Shane Dawson had a stellar start to allow the offense to run away with the game.  He threw 6 innings of 5 hit ball and struck out 5 to allow only 1 run.  The D-Jay’s bullpen would follow suit and only allow 1 run through the remaining 3 innings.  Griffin Murphy pitched 2 innings of no hit ball and Brady Dragmire battled through the 9th inning.  Dragmire would allow 2 hits and a walk which lead to a late run for the Threshers.

The offense was on fire for the D-Jay’s and it got kick started in the 3rd which would end up being a 7 run inning.  4 singles, a hit batter, and a double led to 5 runs to start the inning.  The 3rd was capped off by a Dickie Joe Thon 2 run homer to left.  Now that the Threshers were looking at a 7-0 deficit the D-Jay’s sought to bury them.  The pitching held them in check as the offense rolled out another 3 runs in the 6th.  Derrick Loveless knocked a 2 run double to Reeves and Alford.  That was quickly followed by an RBI single from Matt Dean to make the score 10-1 at the time.  The score would lock in at 10-2 before things were over but the 2 big innings supported a great team effort Sunday

Line of the game

Anthony Alford 3-5 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored

More from Toronto Blue Jays Prospects

On a night that pitching seemed non existent the Lugnuts fall just short of an impressive comeback.  Starting pitchers Clinton Hollon of the Lugnuts and Jared Miller of the Cougars both got tagged for 6 runs each.  This set the tone for the game.  Reliever Dusty Issacs would not fair much better as he gave up another 5 runs which included a solo homer to Joe Munoz.  The Lugnuts bullpen would finally lock in and not allow a run for the remaining 4.1 innings which gave the offense an opportunity to comeback.

The Lugnuts scored 7 runs through the first 4 innings but they were trailing 11-7 at that time.  To get the 7 runs the Lugnuts offense was clicking and kept them in contention the entire game.  The scoring started with an RBI double by Josh Almonte in the 2nd.  The Lugnuts would put up a 3 spot in the 3rd and 4th innings.  In the 3rd Ryan McBroom added to his MVP season as he knocked a 3 run homer over the left field wall.  In the 4th the Lugnuts scored on a wild pitch which was followed by an RBI triple off the bat of Christopher Carlson.  A second wild pitch would lead to Carlson scoring from 3rd.  Moving to the top of the 9th with the Lugnuts trailing by 4 the comeback would begin.  An infield single and a walk led off the inning and set the stage for McBroom.  He then laced a single into left for an RBI.  David Harris would then walk to load the bases which was followed by yet another walk to plate the 2nd run of the inning.  A sac fly would score McBroom to make the score 10-11.  A double play would end the game for the Cougars and seal the loss for the Lugnuts.

Line of the game

Ryan McBroom 3-5 with a home run, 2 runs scored, and 4 RBI
