Buffalo Bisons vs Rochester Red Wings (Win 6-5)

It is amazing how fast things can change in baseball.  The Bisons found this out quick yesterday as a 6-1 lead turned into a 6-5 nail bitter.  Randy Wolf got the Herd off to a great start as once again he was looking dominant.  He allowed one run on 6 hits over 6 innings of work while striking out 6.  The Red Wings continued to struggle against Steve Delebar and Gregory Infante.  Neither of them allowed a run and pushed things to the 9th were it became Joba Chamberlain’s turn.  Joba had issues and allowed a hit and a walk while the defense allowed a runner on from an error.  Now with the bases loaded Reynaldo Rodriguez torched a bases clearing triple.  This made the game close and now a save opportunity that Ben Rowen would step up to complete.  The save was the 1st of the season for Rowen.

On offense it was Andy Burns who was in excellent form on Wednesday night.  Burns carried the offense with a 3-4 night.  He collected a double, home run, and 4 RBIs in the game.  Finishing the game only a triple short of the cycle in the impressive performance.  Adding to the offense was Dalton Pompey as he went 2-4 and scored 2 runs.  Pompey continues to be a nuisance on the base paths as he picks up his 12th stolen base.  The Herds 12 hit attack pushed the Red Wings against the ropes but they fought back and made this game a lot closer then anyone would have guessed after the game started.

Line of the game

Andy Burns 3-4 with a double, a home run, 1 run, and 4 RBI’s

New Hampshire Fisher Cats vs Akron Rubber Ducks (Loss 3-7)

A pitchers duel between The Fisher Cats Taylor Cole and Shawn Morimando turned into an extra inning affair.  Taylor Cole pitched solid through his 7 innings of work but had a thorn is his side named Bradley Zimmer.  Zimmer touched up Cole for 2 home runs in what became an excellent showing for him.  Cole would only allow 5 hits during his work but allowed 3 runs.  He also walked 3 while striking out 2.  Cole gave way to John Anderson who looked good over his 1.2 innings of work.  He did not allow a base runner during his outing.  Blake McFarland would come on and lead the Cats into the 10th.  The train came off the tracks however as McFarland allowed a single, hit a batter and an error.  Now with the bases loaded Carlos Moncrief knocks a grand slam.  This would seal the Cats fate.

Melky Mesa knocked his 3rd home run as a member of the Fisher Cats.  The homer was 1 of 2 extra base hits by the Cats.  The other was a Martin Medina triple.  The offense had a rough go at the plate as they were struck out 11 times by Rubber Ducky pitching.  They were able to scavenge just enough runs to stay in the game.  The game went to extras tied at 3 but they just could not come up with the 4 runs to tie the game in the bottom of the 10th after the grand salami.

Line of the game

John Anderson 1.2 innings, 0 hits, 0 run, 0 walks, o strike outs.

Dunedin Blue Jays vs Daytona Tortugas (Loss 3-10)

Sean Reid-Foley got off to a rough start then was unable to work out of trouble in the 4th inning.  Battling his control Reid-Foley walked 3 batters and allowed 4 runs on 4 hits.  Brad Allen came on and tossed 3 innings but also allowed 2 runs and had control issues.  He also walked 3 batters in nearly the same amount of innings.  Matt Dermody was the last victim of the Tortugas lineup as he also was roughed up for 4 runs in the losing effort.  The Tortugas hot bats just ripped right through the D-Jay’s pitching staff Wednesday.

The offense just couldn’t get it started against Tortugas starter Jackson Stephens they were only able to manage 2 hits.  They were able to only manage 4 base runners period off of Stephens.  Anthony Alford managed to steal a base after collecting a single.  That was his 10th steal of the season.  The D-Jay’s pushed hard in the late innings and scavenged 3 runs together but it was to late by then.  The final of 10-3 would stick.  J.D. Davis and Andy Fermin collected 2 hits and an RBI each.

Line of the game

Andy Fermin 2-4 with a run scored and an RBI

More from Toronto Blue Jays Prospects

After getting the ball rolling with a lead and a shut down first inning the battle began.  Jon Wandling had a rough outing as he gave up 2 runs in the 2nd and 3 runs in the 5th inning.  This for the time being put the Dusty Issacs would come in to pitch 3 innings of 1 hit ball while striking out 6.  Issacs performance kept the Lugnuts in the game and allowed them to claw back into the game.  Tim Mayza would relieve him and eventually allow the winning run in the 11th to allow the Kings walkoff.

D.J. Davis had a stellar night as he went 2-3 with a double, 2 runs scored, an RBI, and a stolen base.  He also got walked 3 times and would score the run to tie it in the 9th on a wild pitch.  Chris Carlson legged out his 6th triple of the season and scored a run.  David Harris and Micheal De La Cruz collected 2 hits and a double each in their nights efforts.  This was a hard luck lose for the Lugnuts but the battled the entire game.

Line of the game

D.J. Davis 2-3 with a double, 2 runs scored, an RBI, and a stolen base.
