    W 2-1

The Bisons got another good outing from Matt Boyd (3-1, 2.77ERA), an outing that the Blue Jays could have used in Seattle. He threw 7 innings, allowing 2 hits, issuing 2 walks, and striking out 7. Boyd threw 64 of his 104 pitches for strikes and did an excellent job of keeping the ball on the ground with 8 ground ball outs to 2 fly ball outs. Miguel Castro pitched a scoreless 8th, but did allow 2 hits on zero walks and zero strike outs. Rob Rasmussen came on in the 9th, but left after allowing the Pawtucket Red Sox only run to score on two hits. Gregory Infante got the Bisons out of the jam and collected his 7th save by retiring the next three batters with a strike out, groundball, and fly ball.

At the plate Matt “MVP” Hague and Andy Burns each collected 2 hits. Dalton Pompey and Josh Thole drove in the Herd’s runs. Pompey was 1-for-4 with a walk, a strike out, and was caught stealing.

Jimmy Cordero and Scott Barnes each pitched 2 innings and allowed 3 hits a piece. Chad Girodo continues to impress since his promotion and lowered his ERA to 0.69 with a clean 8th.

Roemon Fields, Kevin Nolan, and Matt Newman each collected 2 hits. Nolan had 2 RBI and Newman hit his 8th home run and drove in 3 runs. Jorge Flores had the clubs other extra base hit with his 18th double. Christian Lopes and Shane Opitz each had singles in the losing cause.

Next: Lugnuts Put the Screws to the Dragons

    Lansing Lugnuts 15-14/2.5 GB/T-2nd

    W 18-1

More from Toronto Blue Jays News

The Lugnuts had a franchise day as they set a new team record for most hits in a game with 23, they equalled the team record for most lopsided win with 17 runs, and finally they set a season high mark for most runs with 18. This coming from a team that not longer has MWL All-Stars Anthony Alford, and Rowdy Tellez on the roster and hasn’t had Ryan McBroom, the MWL leader in batting average, OPS, RBI, and 2B, in the lineup since the 23rd of July.

Let’s start on the mound. Shane Dawson (12-4, 2.85 ERA), fresh off his gold medal win at the Pan Am Games, continued his dominance over the MWL with his league leading 12th win. Shane struck out 10, walked one, allowed 2 hits over 6 shutout innings. Phil Kish allowed one hit, walked one and struck out 2 in his 2 innings of work. Carlos Ramirez allowed the Dayton Dragons only run (a home run) in his only inning.

The negative first, D.J. Davis was the only Lugnut not to register a hit, as he collected a hat trick with 3 K’s, a walk and an RBI. Jason Leblebijian, in for Ryan McBroom, went 5-for-6 with a home run, two doubles and 6 RBI. Chris Carlson went 4-for-6 with a double, a home run, 4 runs, and 2 RBI. Alex Maldonado (3-4, 3R), Dawel Lugo (3-6, 2R, 2B), Boomer Collins (2-5, 2R, 3B, 3RBI), David Harris (3-6, 2R, 2B, HR, 4 RBI), and Juan Kelly (2-4, R) all had multi-hit games. Christian Vazquez made his only hit count, hitting a triple and driving in 2 RBI.

UP Next: Jesus Tinoco (2-5, 3.75 ERA) vs Dayton’s Tyler Mahle (10-5, 2.54 ERA)

    Vancouver Canadians 15-20/6.GB/4th place

    Postponed due to rain

    Bluefield Blue Jays 14-16/4.5GB/4th place

    W20-5

Angel Perdomo (3-1, 2.12 ERA) allowed 4 runs (one earned) on 4 hits, walked and struck out one over 6 innings for his third win. Geno Encina collected his first save with 3 innings of one hit, one run (unearned), one stike out relief.

Rodrigo Orozco has provided the spark for the Bluefield offence this year, but was one of two hitless players in this laugher. Fortunately for Bluefield, 6 players with multi-hit games and three home runs (Christian Williams, Deiferson Barreto, and Juan Tejada), 5 doubles (Christian Williams, Yeltsin Gudino, and Gabriel Clark x3, ), and a triple (Dean Bell) were pounded out. Barreto had 4 RBI, Williams and Tejada chipped in with 3 a piece, everyone but Dave Pepe (1-3, R) had one RBI. Andres Sotillo was 0-1 with a run, a RBI, 3 BB, and a K….I love a guy who doesn’t let the game change his approach.

UP Next: Juliandry Higuera (3-0, 1.05 ERA) vs Danville’s Patrick Weigel (0-0 3.05 ERA)

    DSL Blue Jays 29-18/T-1st place

    W 12-7

These baby Jays knocked out 18 hits with 5 doubles and a home run. Sterling Guzman (4-5, 2R, two 2B, RBI, SB), Yoman Rodriguez (2-5, R, 2B), Enmanuel Moreta (2-4, 2R, 2RBI), Francisco Rodriguez (3-5, 2R, 2B, HR, 3RBI), and Cristian Peguero (2-2, R, RBI) all had multi-hit games. Noberto Obeso (1-4) was plated 3 times.

Juan Nunez lasted 2.2 innings, allowing 4 runs. Wilmin Lara didn’t fair much better in his 2.1 innings, allowing 2 run while striking out 4. Alvaro Gallindo collected the win by pitching 2 innings, allowing one run on 2 hits. Jose Acosta converted his 2 save, no-hitting the DSL Padres over 2 innings, striking out 3 and and allowing a walk.
