Buffalo Bisons @ Rochester Red Wings (Loss 5-6)

A consistent by the Rochester Red Wings allowed our pitching to give up just enough runs to lose this one.  Todd Redmond got things going and was looking great in the first inning.  In the second inning however after recording 1 out a ball was hit hard to Ramon Santiago who leaped to just miss catching the ball.  This seemed to be the start of what would become a long night for the Herd in terms of luck.  The Red Wings scored 2 runs in the second to take the lead.  Redmond would leave after 5 innings and only allowed the 2 runs.

It was now time for the Bisons to strike back.  In the 6th Melky Mesa and Caleb Gindl were able to reach base which gave Matt Hague an RBI chance.  Hague capitalized on the opportunity and hit an RBI single which plated Mesa.  Following him Luke Scott laced a double to score 2 runs also.  Sean Ochinko would cap off the rally with a 2 run double also to put the Herd up 5-2.  This would be the end of the Bisons offense for the night however as the Red Wings bullpen blanked them for the remainder.

This was the first time I got to see Miguel Castro in person and it does appear that he has lost that spark that carried him through spring training.  In the 6th he walked the first 2 batters he faced and then allowed an RBI single to make the score 5-3.  He then turned it on and got all 3 outs right in a row and was touching 95-97 on the radar gun with his fastball.  Castro came out to start the following inning and allowed a double to start the inning which eventually came around to score after Rob Rasmussen came in.  The Herd would lose this one in the 9th as the Red Wings walked off the Herd on an RBI single by Danny Ortiz off of Gregory Infante.

Line of the game

Sean Ochinko 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI
