Buffalo Bisons vs Indianapolis Indians (Loss 1-2)

Daniel Norris and Chris Volstad went toe to toe on Wednesday and matched each other through 6.1 innings.  Daniel Norris allowed 1 run more then Volstad which was the difference maker.  Norris pitched well but a Steve Lombardozzi single broke the tie and ended up being the game winning hit.  Norris pitched 6.1 innings and scattered 7 hits and 4 walks.  He allowed 2 runs and struck out 4 also.  Gregory Infante and Bo Schultz combined to keep the Indians off the board for the remainder of the game.

Dioner Navarro began his rehab assignment and collected 2 walks and an RBI sac fly.  That would be the only run scored for the Bisons.  The Herd just could not put the pieces together offensively.  They were held to just 5 hits but were able to collect 5 walks from the opposition.  Seems like there was enough people on base but they just could not bring them around to score.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats vs Reading Fightin Phils (Loss 10-12)

The Fisher Cats pitching got crushed Wednesday.  Even with the Cats putting up 10 runs they were not able to over come the Fightin Phils assault.  John Anderson gave up 6 earned runs in his 3 innings of work and allowed 11 hits.  This included a 3-run homerun to Tony Thomas in the 2nd.  Dustin Antolin came on in the 4th and had similar issues.  Antolin allowed 6 additional hits good for 3 more earned runs.  Neither team played solid defense in this one which is shown by the 6 total errors in the game.  The Cats owned 3 of those errors and 2 of them were bad enough to allow a run to be scored.  Greg Burke was the only Cats pitcher to not allow at least a run.

Offensively the Cats were looking good.  The hole the defense dug was just to great to over come.  Recent Jays Nest guest Dwight Smith Jr. enjoyed a solid night in which he went 3-5 and scored twice.  The bottom of the order raked in the most RBI’s Wednesday.  Shane Opitz went 2-5 with 2 doubles, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI.  Ian Parmley hit his first professional homerun in the 3rd inning off of Zach Eflin with 2 runners on.  Jorge Flores and Smith continue to provide a solid tandem at the top of the Cat lineup.

Dunedin Blue Jays vs Jupiter Hammerheads (Loss 3-2)

The D-Jays found themselves struggling for offense Wednesday.  The pitching was able to keep them in the game though.  Murphy Smith was solid through 6 innings and allowed only 1 earned run on 7 hits.  His defense however let him down and allowed 2 unearned runs on 2 errors.  Alberto Tirado came on and did not allow a hit over the remaining 2 innings.

As the pitching kept the D-Jays in the game the offense fell flat.  They were able to collect 7 hits but were unable to put much together.  Dawel Lugo and Dickie Joe Thon collected an RBI each both on singles.  Outside of those couple hits there were no real standouts.  The throwing errors by Mike Reeves and Derrick Loveless did the D-Jays in Wednesday.

A decent outing by Jesus Tinoco almost went to waist Wednesday.  Tinoco went 6 innings and did not allow an earned run and allowed 3 hits.  He did have some base runners to deal with because he also walked 4 hitters.  He was able to work out of trouble and recorded 6 strikeouts.  His defense left him out to dry in the first inning and committed 2 errors which allowed 2 runs to score.  Mark Biggs pitched the final 3 innings and allowed a run to give the Green a 1 run lead going into the top of the 9th.

A bases loaded double by Danny Jansen capped off the comeback and put the Lugnuts ahead 6-3.  Anthony Alford went 1-3 with an RBI and extended his impressive on base streak to 30 games.  Rowdy Tellez continues his stellar offensive production by going 2-4 and driving in his league leading 38th RBI.  D.J. Davis and Tim Locastro each went 2-4 with a run scored.  Josh Almonte collected 2 doubles and an RBI.  A solid evening for the Lugnuts all around and a late rally made for a fun game.
