Buffalo Bisons (16-15, 3rd)

The Bisons finally got back in the win column with a 9-4 win over Durham to open a three game set.

It looked like Daniel Norris was in for a long night when Durham’s leadoff hitter Taylor Motter took him yard in the first inning, but Norris bounced back striking out the side. Norris wouldn’t allow another hit until Hak-Ju Lee‘s ground-rule double in the Top of the 3rd.

The Bisons scored 3 in the first when Brad Glenn and Caleb Gindl hit back-to-back doubles to score Dalton Pompey, Chris Dickerson and Glenn. End of the 1st, Bisons 3 and Durham 1.

Buffalo added a run in the 3rd when Caleb Gindl singled home Matt Hague. Buffalo 4 Durham 1

The Herd would strike again in the 4th inning. Andy Burns hit a 2-out double to score Dalton Pompey from first. Bisons 5 Durham 1

Norris’ control wavered in the 5th, issuing walks to Alexi Casilla and Taylor Motter. Fortunately for Norris the walks were sandwiched between a pair of strike outs, which limited the damage. Casilla used a pair of stolen bases to get into scoring position and was brought home when Nick Franklin singled up the middle.Buffalo 5 Durham 2

Norris would ran into trouble in the 7th when Alexi Casilla reached on a Jonathan Diaz fielding error. Alexi would advanced to 2nd on a throwing error by Daniel Norris when he attempted a pick off. Norris would walk Hak-Ju Lee and that was all she wrote for the promising left-hander as Chad Jenkins was called from the pen. Buffalo 5 Durham 4.

Final line for Norris: 6.1IP, 5H, 4R, 3BB, 7K, 1HR. 65 of his 103 pitches were thrown for strikes.

Buffalo bounced back with a pair of their own in the bottom of the 7th. Brad Glenn walked, then advanced to 3rd on a Caleb Gindl single. Sean Ochinko doubled them home to put the Herd out in front 7-4.

Just to be on the safe side the Herd added 2 more runs in the bottom of the 8th. Dalton Pompey drove in Jonathan Diaz with his first double. Pompey would later score on a Chris Dickerson single. Bisons 9 Durham 4.

The Buffalo Bisons collected 9 runs on 12 hits, and 2 first inning errors.

Dalton Pompey had his best game since being sent down to Buffalo, 4-for-5 with a double, 3 runs, an RBI, a stolen base, and a strike out. Caleb Gindl collected 3 hits and 3 RBI. Matt Hague, Chris Dickerson and Brad Glenn each had 2 hits, as every Buffalo hitter collected at least one hit.

Chad Jenkins pitched an inning and third of one hit relief and Luis Perez closed things out with a perfect 9th inning.
