Buffalo Bisons (13-7, 1st)

The Herd continue their hot start to the 2015 season with a 2-1 win over Norfolk. Buffalo’s RHP Chad Jenkins (1-1, 2.89ERA) pitched well in the no-decision. This is Jenkins third start in-a-row which he hasn’t allowed more than one run, this after allowing 4ER in 2.2IP in his first start of 2015. Chad pitched 6 innings, allowing one run on 5 hits, no walks, and 3 strike outs. His only blemish came in the 2nd inning, allowing a run on three singles.

The bullpen was equally impressive. Preston Guilmet (0-0, 0.79ERA), Steve Delabar (W 1-0, 1.23ERA), and Bo Shultz (S 1-1 4SV, 3.24ERA) combined to pitch 3 one hit, one walk innings of relief. The trio struck out 4 batters along the way. Bisons pitchers induced 10 ground balls outs and only 3 fly ball outs.

Steve Delabar wasn’t the sharpest he’s been this year. He throw 11 strikes and 9 balls in his inning of work, allowing one walk….but now I’m just looking for something to complain about.

At the plate CF Ezequiel Carrera and 3B Matt Hague each had two hits. Carrera got things going in the first with a leadoff single and would move over to 2nd when Norfolk’s starter Eddie Gamboa committed a balk. One out later, Matt Hague would drive Carrera in with his first of two doubles.

The remained dead-locked at 1-1 until the 8th inning. A Chris Parmelee fielding error and Rossmel Perez passed ball allowed Caleb Gindl to score the winning run.
