Buffalo Bisons
The Herd continue their hot start with a 11-1 victory over Lehigh Valley. Buffalo completed a 4-game sweep of Lehigh Valley last week by outscoring them 17 to 7 and hope to do the same in this 4-game series.
Chris Colabello got the Bisons on the board in the 2nd with his 4th home run , a solo shot to right center. Colabello was at it again in the 3rd, cashing in Matt Hague on a fielder’s choice.
In the 6th, Munenori Kawasaki doubled to center, Jonathan Diaz hit one of his own to score Muni and that was it for Paul Clemens. Lehigh Tyler Knigge came on in relief and gave up a single to his first batter, leadoff man Ezequiel Carrera, to score Diaz.
The Bisons broke the game wide open with a 4-run 8th inning. Muni hit his 2nd double of the game, Diaz walked, Carrera came through with another single to score Muni, Chris Dickerson doubled to score Diaz, Matt Hague singled in Carrara and the Bisons were up 10-0 after 7 and half complete.
With Chad Jenkins out of the game (W 1-1, 3.55 ERA) and Ryan Tepera having pitched 2 innings of no-hit relief, manager Gary Allenson turned the game over to Gregory Infante. The IronPigs were able to score their only run of the game off Infante.
The Herd added one more run in the top of the 9th, but they could have scored more had Chris Dickerson not grounded out to the pitcher with the bases loaded. Matt Hague walked with the base loaeded to score Muni and Andy Wilkins poped up to end the threat or this could have gotten really ugly.
Colt Hynes come on in the 9th and got Chris Nelson to ground into a game ending double play.
