Blue Jays PODCAST (VIDEO): Jays’ Nest Pilot Episode

Hey, Blue Jays fans. We’re undertaking a new endeavor here at Jays Journal. In an effort to provide you more engaging content, we’ve begun the process of podcasting. We’ve entitled it “Jays’ Nest” (not to be confused with the Blue Jay’s Nest bed and breakfast in PEI, Canada) Each episode will present a discussion on everything Blue Jays. Just like our site, we’ll offer you professional, intelligent discussion and debate about your Toronto Blue Jays.

Next: Will Blue Jays pay High Price for Dan Duquette?

To that end, we decided that we are going to one up the podcast and go the Google Hangout route to provide you a better experience. In future episodes, you’ll be able to watch a LIVE show, interact with the panel as well as submit topics or question for discussion.

In our pilot episode, we looked at the moves made over the winter to improve the Blue Jays’ roster. We assembled a panel of guys who were brave enough to test the waters on this new adventure. The panel included Jays Journal writers Eric Elliott, Justin Jay, Keegan Matheson and myself. The analysis led to some pretty interesting points brought up by our panel.

  • Our ideas ranged from exploring just who will fill in for the departed Melky Cabrera in the second spot of the powerful lineup that has been created. Some names we considered were Russell Martin, Maicer Izturis and one surprising option.

But, we didn’t stop there. The bullpen (specifically the closer’s role), clubhouse chemistry, who should catch the knuckleball from R.A. Dickey, an evaluation of John Gibbons, Josh Donaldson, Gold Gloves and so much more can be found within the friendly confines of the Jays’ Nest. The video recording could use some refinements, so bare with us as we work out the kins. Hair and makeup had the night off, but hopefully they’ll be able to touch us up a bit for next time. The audio version below is much more polished.

Without further ado, we would like to present to you our inaugural edition of Jays’ Nest.
