Vancouver Canadians: Aiming for a four-peat

The Vancouver Canadians have been spoiling their fans with playoff run after playoff run. They are the reigning 2013 NWL champs….three years running actually. They are looking to make it 4 in row.

After sweeping Spokane in the final series of the season, the C’s continued their dominance against Spokane by sweeping the best of three North Division series.

Game 1 was a pitchers dual that went to the C’s 1-0. Catcher Mike Reeves (@reevezymike), from Peterborough, went 2-2 with a walk and drove in the games only run. Tim Locastro (@TweetLo_11) had the C’s only extra base hit. The 6’4″ LHP Ryan Borucki (@Hit_This12) pitched possibly his best game of the year. Ryan showed great command with zero walks, 4K and only allowed 5 hits over 7.0IP.

The C’s bullpen has been great all year long. Micheal Kraft (@MichaelKraft16) didn’t have his best stuff, walking 2 batter, but still got 2 outs and didn’t allow a run. Phil Kish (@philliphkish), who converted 9 save in 9 opportunities with the C’s in 2014, came on in the 9th and struck out the side despite allowing a single.

Game 2 had a little bit more offence but the same amount of drama. The C’s were cruising going into the 8th up 5-1. A throwing error by All-Star Franklin Barreto, a double, and single allowed the Indians to pull to with 2, 5-3. In the 9th Spokane added another run to make it 5-4 and with base loaded Kish gets Spokane’s Luke Tendler to ground out to Franklin Barreto.

The C’s offence came from their other catcher, Michael De La Cruz (@elverdadero05). De La Cruz went 2 for 2 with two doubles, and three RBI. LF Jonathan Davis(@iL3ad_uFollowJD) went 3 for 4, two runs, a triple, and a RBI.

20 year old LHP Jairo Labourt (@jairolabourt)  did a great job of keeping the ball on the ground with 9 ground ball out and only allowed one run in 6.0IP. Kish came on to get his second save of the series.

The C’s will be facing off against South Division Champs Hillsboro Hops tonight at 7:05.
