The Buffalo Bisons and Lansing Lugnuts are out, and Dunedin Blue Jays and Vancouver Canadians are in. Dalton Pompey shines in a Herd loss, Norris makes first relief appearance, Gustavo Pierre goes 1-for-4 and gets traded, Roberto Osuna lights out in 2.0 innings, and Matt Smoral struggles with command in C’s victory.
Buffalo Bisons (76-66)
The Buffalo Bisons loss 4-3 and so ends their post season aspirations. Down 3-0 going into the 7th inning, the Herd scored a single run in the 7th, 8th, and 9th to knot the game up at 3’s. Colt Hynes came on in the bottom of the 9th and was unable to hold the game and send it into extra innings….by giving up a home run. Daniel Norris has a successful first appearance out of the bullpen.
Dalton Pompey collected 2-hits, a single and a double, stole a base and drove in his 5th RBI. Brett Wallace and Matt Hague drove in the Herds other two runs.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats (66-75)
The Fisher Cats loss 6-3. Ben White (1-1, 5.73ERA) making his final start of the season couldn’t get out of the 5th inning. He did manage to strike out 7 and only issued one free pass. White’s issue was the not being able to get outs on the ground…zero groundball outs to 3 flyball outs, one of which left the yard.

Dunedin Blue Jays (77-61)
D-Jays win 7-3. The offence exploded for 5 runs in the first and added addition runs in the third and seventh. The D-Jays hit 4 doubles and L.B. Dantzler hit his 3 home run. Dantzler drove in 3 run and added a double, as he went 2-for-4. Mitch Nay, who has struggled somewhat since his promotion, had a nice 2-for-4 game and added his first RBI as a member of the D-Jays.
Roberto Osuna was lights out in his 2.0IP with a walk and 3 K’s. He struck out the side on 10 pitches. There is a day off on Monday and the playoff start on Tuesday.

Lansing Lugnuts (62-76)
The Lugnuts loss a wild one 11-7 and are officially eliminated from playoff contention. A pair of first inning errors lead to an early 3-run deficit, but by the end of the 4th inning the Lugnuts only trailed 7-6. Unfortunately a comeback was not in the cards as South Bend (82-56) scored 4 in the 6th on a pair of 2-run blasts…..game.
Rowdy Tellez has been impressive since his promotion (I thought he would struggle for sure….I can admit when I am not right). Tellez had his 7 game hit streak snapped yesterday and started a new one with a single, an RBI, and 2 walks.
Chaz Frank– 1/5, RBI, K

Vancouver Canadians (45-30)
The C’s win 5-3 and are heading to yet another playoff berth…..4 times in 4years. Fields hit a triple (4) and single, for some reason he didn’t steal a base. Franklin Barreto stole his 29th base, but also committed his 26th error…..not the kind of 20-20 player we like to praise (I joke).
The C’s had two big innings in the 3rd and 6th, as they scored 2 and 3. Matthew Smoral gave up two runs in the first, but recovered nicely to pitch 5.0IP. Smoral may not have done a great job with his command, but he did do a great job of keeping the ball on the ground with a 5-0 GO/AO ratio.
Roemon Fields– 2/4, R, 3B, RBI
Tim Locastro- 1/4, RBI
Franklin Barreto– 1/4, R, SB, E
