Toronto Blue Jays Minor League Recap: Alford homers in win

Buffalo Bisons (46-42)

Bisons win 6-3. Top prospect Aaron Sanchez was cruising along until allowing a run in the 5th and 2 in the 6th….he allowed 2 home runs. He turned the ball over to Kyle Drabek, who shut down the RailRiders for two inning of one hit ball. Bobby Korecky pitched a perfect 9th for his 11th save.

Andy LaRoche had 3-hits (2 singles and a double) to go with a solid showing from Corey Aldridge and Ryan Goins 2-hit performance. The big blow belonged to Jonathan Diaz, who hit a 2-run double off Matt Daley in a 4-run 8th inning to complete the comeback.

Noteworthy: Erik Kratz hit a double to extend his hit streak to 6-games. Kevin Pillar lost his cleanup spot to Cory Aldridge and went hitless in 5 AB.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats (40-45)

The Fisher Cats win 3-1. The Fisher Cats were down 1-0 going into the 8th, but they scored 3 in that inning to steal the win. Newly called up Matt Boyd pitched 6.0 inning of 1-run ball, showing great command by striking out 9 and not walking a batter….that is a helluva lot better than his previous attempt at Double-A ball. Casey Lawrence got the win with 2 scoreless inning of no-hit ball.

The offence was supplyied by Jon Berti and Matt Newman. Good news for Dalton Pompey, who collected hit in the game and is hitting .080 since being called up.

The D-Jays keep the winning going with a 5-4. Down 3-0 going into the bottom of the 6th, the D-Jays scored 2 and followed that up with a 3-run 7th to seal the victory. Arik Sikula, who for some stupid reason was recently demoted from NH got his 17th save.

Peter Mooney had a 3-hit day and drove in 2-RBI. Emilio Guerrero extended his 6-game hit streak with a single and Dwight Smith Jr. continues to having all the spotlight to himself (no Pompey) as he extended his hit streak to 6 as well. He is now hitting .349/.417/.488 in his last 10 games.

Roemon Fields continues to run around like a 2 year old collect toys, as he stole his 19 base and collected 2 hits. Ryan McBroom collected 2-hits to extend his hit streak to 5-games. The big blow came off the bat of Jonathan Davis in the 2nd inning as he hit his first HR…a 2-run shot.
