Toronto Blue Jays option Steve Delabar again

According to Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet, the Toronto Blue Jays have sent reliever Steve Delabar back to Triple-A to make room for the recently called up Liam Hendriks. Hendriks is scheduled to start tonight in Cincinnati, weather permitting.

Delabar was optioned for Munenori Kawasaki just two days ago and walked three batters and gave up a run in just two-thirds of an inning last night so it’s not surprising to see him sent back down again. Hopefully he’ll be able to regather himself. Delabar’s velocity has been down this year and combined with an inability to throw strikes his ERA has ballooned to 4.91.

I wrote about Hendriks last night but his stay with the big club could be brief. The Blue Jays will likely need another lefty reliever so, as long as R.A. Dickey avoids the DL, Rob Rasmussen could be called up after today’s game with Hendriks going back to Buffalo (h/t @EEmazingJays).
