Brett Cecil said after the game that he probably shouldn’t have been out there.
At least this is the report we are getting from Scott MacArthur of TSN and several other of the Toronto Blue Jays’ beat reporters.
Shi Davidi of Sportsnet was the first person that Cecil was headed to the DL. Barry Davis of SN adds that Cecil “said he had been feeling fine but it’s so hard to tell with a groin injury until you’re out there throwing 90+.” Cecil strained his groin during an appearance last Friday.
The Blue Jays are thin when it comes to left-handed relief pitcher with Aaron Loup currently the only lefty in the bullpen. Rob Rasmussen is the only other left-handed reliever on the Blue Jays 40-man roster while Raul Valdes, who was recently acquired by the Blue Jays, has major league experience and pitched briefly for the Houston Astros last season.
