Buffalo Bisons (32-32) The Bisons are back at .500…again, with an impressive 11-3 over Toledo. The Bisons have managed to stay around .500 all season long despite running Ricky Romero out every fifth day. On this day the Bisons got a quality start from Kyle Drabek (the forgotten one). Drabek’s 6.0IP, 3R, 6K performance was good enough for a ND which is a huge accomplishment considering he’s taken the loss in his previous 3 starts. Esmil Rogers pitched 2.1 innings of one hit ball for his first AAA win.

Kevin Pillar showed a rehabbing  Colby Rasmus how it’s done in triple-A with a 3/5 game and 2 doubles. Colby went 0/3. The Bisons got home runs from Brad Glenn and Jared Goedert, and 2-hit games from Andy LaRoche, Munenori Kawasaki, and Dan Johnson. A.J. Jimenez extended his hit streak to 9 games with a single and drove in 2 runs.

Jon Berti had a big day with a 4/5 game. Berti also collected his 20th steal, which was his first in over a week. Mike McDade was the Fisher Cats big contributor with a 3 RBI, 3/5 game. McDade has 3 multi-hit games in his last 4 and is riding a 4-game hit streak. Ryan Schimpf and Kenny Wilson went deep for the Fisher Cats.

Vancouver C’s (1-0)

The C’s begin their quest for yet another title with an impressive 11-2 victory over Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. Alberto Tirado started the season opener and went 4.0IP allowing 2 hits and 2 run, while striking out 3. Tirado was over matched in Lansing so it is good to see him pitch well at this level, even if it is just for one game. The C’s bullpen pitched 5IP of 2-hit scoreless relief , but they did walk 4 batters.

The C’s got big games from Franklin Barreto (4/4), Jonathan Davis (3/4), and Seth Conner (2/4). Barreto is expected to have a good year and he sure started the year over well.  Jonathan Davis showed his extra base power with a double and two triples. The C’s did commit 3 errors on the day…let’s hope that was opening day gitters and not a trend we will see all summer.
