Dunedin Blue Jays (28-11)

The D-Jays’ Jesse Hernandez put a stop to a two-game losing streak with 4-1 win over Palm Beach. The win gave the D-Jays a 2-2 split of the 4-game series. Hernandez has been pitching very well in May with a 1-0 record 2.69 ERA in three stars. Hernandez has not lost a game in his last six starts.

Dalton Pompey was held hitless for the 2nd game and is now hitting .282 in the last 10 games. Dwight Smith Jr. hit a double to lead off the game and later scored the games first run. Smith Jr. has now hit safely in the last 5-games and is hitting .286/.333/.500 in his last 10 games. Four different D-Jays each had one RBI and made the most of their limited chases on offence, going 3-6 with RISP. Derrick Chung continues to carry a hot bat with his 13th hit in 10 games and is now hitting .371 during that span.

Lansing Lugnuts (19-20)

Dayton jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning but were unable to hold the lead as the Lansing Lugnuts tied the game up in the 6th inning. L.B. Dantzler hit his first triple of the season to tie the game at 3-3 to end the 8th that pushed this game into extra innings. Santiago Nessy had a 3 hits game and has 10 hits in 6 games. Justin R. Atkinson extended his hit streak to 8 games and is hitting .378 in 10 games. It didn’t take long for the Dayton Dragons to get to Chase De Jong. Sebastian Elizalde hit his 5th home run to drive in 2 runs in the top of the 1st. De Jong was able to battle and only allowed 3 hits over 4.2IP. If not for a rough first inning De Jong might have been in line for the win.  Scott Silverstein pitched 8th and allowed one run on two hits while walking three. Griffin Murphy took the loss giving up a pair of runs in the 10th.
