Erik Kratz was called up to serve as Josh Thole’s backup with Dioner Navarro injurie. To make room on the Blue Jays roster Chad Jenkins was sent down to Buffalo. Jack Murphy was called up to Buffalo from the New Hampshire Fisher Cats to fill the spot left by Kratz being moved up to to the Blue Jays. Murphy had already spent three games with the Bisons earlier in April. Murphy doesn’t bring much of a bat but he is a solid defensive catcher.
New Hampshire Fisher Cats activated RHP Dustin Antolin off the disabled list. Antolin has yet to play in 2014 and did not fare to well with the Fisher Cats in 2013, Antolin didn’t fair too well during. RHP Wil Browning was moved to the Dunedin Blue Jays to make room for Antolin. Browning amassed 81 strikeouts over 62 IP while pitching for the Lansing Lugnuts and Dunedin but has struggled to start the season allowing 6 runs, a homerun, 5 BB, and 7 strikeouts in 6 innings.
The Lansing Lugnuts placed RHP Yeyfry Del Rosario on the disabled list and transferred LHP Matt Dermody. Yeyfry Del Rosario has pitched 120 innings over the last 3 seasons collecting 6 wins and 15 losses while maintaining a solid 3.13 ERA. This is a good example of a pitchers record not telling the whole story. Del Rosario has averaged 8.8 K/9, 2.9 BB/9, and a WHIP of 1.119 over three levels. Matt Dermody spent last season pitching for the GCL Blue Jays and the Vancouver Canadians. Dermody finished the year 5-1, 1.66 ERA, 43.1 IP while starting three games and appearing in 16 games.
