The Toronto Blue Jays cut recently acquired outfielder Matt Tuiasosopo earlier this morning in what was a flurry of announced roster moves. Gregor Chisholm was the first person I noticed on my Twitter feed to report the move.

I haven’t heard yet what the corresponding roster move will be as the Blue Jays now have an open spot on their 40-man roster. The Blue Jays picked up Tuiasosopo last week after he was placed on waivers by the Arizona Diamondbacks. LHP Luis Perez was released to make room on the roster for the right-handed hitting Tuiasosopo.

Chisholm was on with Macko & Cauz of TSN1050 this morning and shared his theory that the plan to try to slide Tuiasosopo through waivers might have been the Blue Jays plan all along. If he clears, his addition would prove to be a nice depth piece for the Blue Jays to have in Buffalo. If he doesn’t, the loss of Perez is stomachable based on the plethora of bullpen options the Jays have at their disposal.

What will be the next move for the Blue Jays? I’m not exactly sure – just please not Joe Blanton.
