Well of course this would happen.
Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports has reported that the Baltimore Orioles have an agreement in place with right-handed free agent pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez.
The deal is reportedly in the ballpark of four years and $48 million according to Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com, which Rosenthal says is “close” to the actual value he was told.
We don’t know yet if the Blue Jays also made an offer to Ubaldo but the fact he signed elsewhere at a reasonable price (to a division rival!) is undoubtedly frustrating for Toronto fans. Either the Jays are in fact sold on their own internal options or they hope to have an agreement with Ervin Santana in the coming days.
The deal has not been confirmed by the Orioles yet but it appears that it’s not just a bad dream after all.
