According to our good friend Daniel George at GameSided.com, Canadian kid and current Toronto Blue Jays’ third baseman Brett Lawrie will grace the cover of the Canadian version of MLB 14: The Show.
Lawrie recently tweeted out a couple of pictures of the cover shot. Which one would you choose?

Lawrie started off the 2013 season slowly and suffered an injury playing for Team Canada at the World Baseball Classic diving for a ground ball. He missed all of spring training and hovered around the Mendoza line for the first half of the season. However after the All-Star break he batted .283/.346/.417 and exploded in August with a .892 OPS. He’s also one of the game’s best (and most exciting) third baseman in the field.
Blue Jays’ slugger Jose Bautista has been honoured with the Canadian cover the past two years but after a down season in 2013 the game’s makers decided to go with a fresh face. Personally I think Edwin Encarnacion was the more deserving candidate after two consecutive elite offensive seasons but I get why it was decided to put Lawrie on the cover. It’s about sales at the end of the day and few players are as marketable to Canadians as the B.C. boy Brett.
