Scrolling through my Twitter list yesterday it seemed like everyone was talking about one thing – Baseball America’s 2013 League Top 20 Prospects Index.
I unfortunately don’t have time to get into any analysis but in case you were wondering here’s the players from the Toronto Blue Jays organization who made the list. Seven of the top 20 prospects in the 10-team Appalachian League came from the Bluefield Blue Jays and one of my favourites, Matthew Dean, didn’t even make the cut.
Appalachian League
2 – D.J. Davis, OF
4 – Mitch Nay, 3B
5 – Dawel Lugo, SS
6 – Chase DeJong, RHP
8 – Alberto Tirado, RHP
12 – Jairo Labourt, LHP
16 – Adonys Cardona, RHP
Gulf Coast League
5 – Franklin Barreto, SS
Northwest League
13 – Tom Robson, RHP
19 – L.B. Dantzler, 1B
As I mentioned earlier, Twitter was quite abuzz with the news. Here’s some of the reaction:
BA's Top 20 Appalachian League prospects has 7 Blue Jays on it, the most of any team.

Surprised that Matt Dean isn't listed in BA's top 20 prospects in the Appy League.

@JaysFromAway @StivBators next year, in Lansing, will give us a much clearer picture of where and who he is as a hitter

@JaysFromAway I agree on Dean although I would have thought Tirado would be higher up. DeJong certainly has a higher upside at this point.

BA's Northwest League top 20 is out today, just 2 Jays on this one: 13. Tom Robson and 19. LB Dantzler

Surprised Daniel Norris is not on BA's top 20 midwest league prospects
