Today we feature yet another edition of “As The Roster Churns“.
The Toronto Blue Jays announced a rather strange roster move today, tweeting that RHP Thad Weber will be optioned to Triple-A Buffalo but then recalled as the Blue Jays 26th man for tomorrow’s doubleheader against the New York Yankees.
RHP THAD WEBER has been optioned to @BuffaloBisons however will be recalled as the 26th man for tomorrow’s double header

Minor Leaguer from Bluebird Banter educated us earlier about how the 26th man works when dealing with optioned and recalled players. Basically if a player is recalled as a 26th man he doesn’t need to wait the usual 10 day waiting period after being optioned but since Weber has already been called up in the past 10 days he must be immediately optioned after the doubleheader, barring injury. Hopefully I didn’t butcher that too much. ML, you are just so darned smart.
The @BlueJays have reinstated MUNENORI KAWASAKI from the paternity list.

Proud new papa Munenori Kawasaki was also reinstated from the paternity list today. Weber being optioned from the 25-man makes the necessary room for Kawasaki, who has been added back to the active roster for the upcoming doubleheader in New York. It’s unclear whether or not Jose Reyes will be able to make the start for tomorrow’s games as he is currently day-to-day nursing a sore knee.
