Another Game Thread and another glimmer of hope for the resurrection of the Blue Jays. Continuing their up and down season on what was a gorgeous holiday Monday, the Blue Jays managed a nice, but not entirely comfortable win over division rival Tampa Bay. The bats once again came alive; rebounding nicely from a poor showing in the abbreviated weekend set against the Yankees, and R.A. Dickey continued to look somewhat like the pitcher the Blue Jays were expecting when they traded for the NL Cy Young winner.
While he wasn’t yet the efficient , strike throwing machine of last season, Dickey managed to get through 8 innings (albeit with 120 pitches) giving up just 4 hits and walking 4 more. Dickey induced 15 swinging misses (a season high). Anytime you have a pitch moving in ways that makes Ben Zobrist look silly while trying to lay down a bunt, it’s probably a good sign.
