Opening Day and Article Links
The Red Sox and Yankees really put on a show Sunday night and set the bar high for 2010. The offensive outburst that was opening day really got every fan watching raring to go and I hope you’re as excited for today as I am. Here are some links that are great reads as we lead up to Opening Day for the Jays and the rest of MLB:
- Wally Fish reviews team performances in the 2000 Draft in his first article for the Call to the Pen;
- Brian Phair tells us who’s hot and who’s cold heading into the regular season in his section called “Streaking in the Park”;
- Jordan Bastien has a great piece on how seriously Jose Bautista is taking the lead off role;
- Joe Posnanski wrote a very interesting piece on the whole earned vs unearned run dilemma that he entitled “Who Are You To Decide What’s Unearned?*” It’s lengthy, but more than worth it;
- The BA staff have the Top 25 High Schools as of the 30th of March 2010. They also take us through which prospects impressed them most in Spring Training within the NL Central;
- Since all of us still love the Doc, here is a good read about his take on things and how determined he is to win this season. Good luck to those NL hitters who face him, and the poor pitchers who also have to stand in there…..watch your knees! They may buckle…
- Keeping with the Roy Halladay coverage, Justin Klugh gives us a very refreshing look at Roy, Mike Leake, and Chipper Jones in his first Call to the Pen article entitled “The Priest, the Kid, and the Vet: Motives of Baseball in 2010”
- Think the Jays are the only AL East team with SP issues? Think again, here’s a recap of last night’s aces performances;
- And finally, Drunk Jays Fan take us through the roster as we head into 2010.
That’s it for today. Time to head to work (if I am going to work…..)
