Nance was one of the most important pieces in Toronto's bullpen following the team's post-trade deadline exodus last season after he was acquired from the San Diego Padres in exchange for cash considerations.

Despite going through some ups and downs during the final few weeks of the season, Nance ended up making 20 appearances with the club. He showed off his strikeout potential (he averaged close to a strikeout an inning) but also struggled with his command. He finished his Blue Jays tenure with a 4.09 ERA and 1.23 WHIP in 22 innings.

Still, that strikeout ability was a reason why Nance entered the spring on the inside track to make a Blue Jays' bullpen that's lacked swing and miss ability over the past couple seasons. Nance has recorded 106 strikeouts in just 94 1/3 innings over 82 games with the Chicago Cubs, Miami Marlins and the Jays.

However, things haven't gone Nance's way this spring. He's amassed a less-than-stellar 6.23 ERA while giving up a whopping eight hits in just 4 1/3 innings of work this spring.

Even though the Jays are dealing with injuries to Erik Swanson, Ryan Burr and Max Scherzer, Nance hasn't done anything to help his cause. Toronto may have no choice but to let him go despite his lack of minor league options.
