Blue Jays third baseman and American League MVP Josh Donaldson proved that baseball isn’t his only area of sports expertise while appearing on Intentional Talk

Josh Donaldson doesn’t exist in the offseason spotlight as much as, say, a Marcus Stroman. In the moments he does, however, it’s a thing of beauty.

Appearing on MLB Network’s Intentional Talk, Josh Donaldson joined Chris Rose and Kevin Millar live from the links. After talking up his game (he’d apparently made three birdies on the day already), the guys challenged Donaldson to take his putt on the air.

The results, for your viewing pleasure.

“That’s why they call me Tiger!”

Along with his much-discussed appearance on the show ‘Vikings’, and some rare sightings in the media, Donaldson has remained relatively quiet since the season ended. With a new two-year deal in hand north of the border, however, it will be interesting to see how (or if) Donaldson continues to build his brand off the field.

Major League Baseball is not quite the National Basketball Association in terms of player branding, something that has catapulted the NBA over the past decade, but in younger players like Marcus Stroman, you see the wheels turning.

Between Stroman’s social media presence, featured spots on rap songs, or his trademarked ‘HDMH’ brand (Height Don’t Measure Heart), his reach extends far beyond the baseball field. This can be a creative outlet for some players, but at the same time, there’s no denying the value of added financial opportunities outside of the game.

Donaldson’s golfing days will soon be over, though, as the Blue Jays begin to officially report to Dunedin, Florida within the week. Finally.
