Game Notes:

  • Scott Copeland had his second straight game that wasn’t great. Well, I’m being generous with that on today’s effort. Today was a disaster. His spot in the rotation while only temporary may be in jeopardy.
  • Entering the game Kevin Pillar had a great month of June and end of May. The last 30 days he has a .319 average, 4 HR, 16 R, 16 RBI, and 4 SB. Today those numbers kept climbing. He pitched in going 2-3 while stacking more and more stats with a single, 1 HR, 1 BB, 1 R, and 2 RBI.
  • Blue Jays had 5 straight innings with the lead off batter reaching base. They totaled 6 innings with the lead off runner on base.
  • Bullpen once again costing the Blue Jays the game. Two games in a row on very winnable games the closer has given go ahead runs.
  • This series was very telling about how badly the Blue Jays need pitching in both the starters role as well as the bullpen.
  • Jose Bautista continues to heat up. Today he reached base 4 times with 2 hits and 2 walks. One of his hits was a monster home run. He also contributed with 4 RBI and and a run.

Grades:

A. The Offense did pretty good today. They did pick up 9 runs on 12 hits. They just once again lacked clutch hitting deeper in the game when they could have put the game away. After a depressing 2nd inning for the Orioles, who grabbed 7 runs, the Jays answered back with 6 and got the crowd fired up. They were able to get 3 more runs in the 4th inning. Once again relying on the long ball to do most of the damage. Ezequiel Carrera, Jose Bautista, and Kevin Pillar all hit home runs. The game ball goes to Joey-Bats for his day. He had 2 H, 2 BB, 4 RBI, 1 R and a home run. . Game Ball. Jose Bautista. OFFENSE

NA. I feel like an F just doesn`t give the picture. Today Scott broke the grading system. The grade is NA. He pitched an okay first inning but in the 2nd couldn`t really do anything but give up singles. The home run was the dagger to mercifully end his afternoon. His halloweeen’esk line was shocking and frightening at 1.1 IP , 8 H, 7 ER and 1 K.. . Scott Copeland. STARTING PITCHER

BULLPEN . F. While the bullpen was tasked with picking up almost a full game. They couldnt quite hold on. They did pretty well until the 8th and 9th and blew the lead. Bo Schultz picked up a huge 2.2 innings when they needed it most. The suposed big arms (setup man and closer) both gave up runs. It marks the 2nd game in a row Cecil came into a game all tied up and gave up runs. They all combined for 7.2 IP, 8 H, 6 ER, 2 BB, and 8 K. . Game Ball. Bo Schultz
