Triple-A: Buffalo Bisons

The Bisons split yesterday’s doubleheader against Durham 1-1. In game one, Kevin Pillar and Cole Gillespie paced the offense with two hits and a double apiece Adron Chambers also chipped in with two singles. Brad Mills struck out five in two and two-thirds while Kyle Drabek earned the win in relief.

Game Two was a low-scoring affair with Pillar and Darin Mastroianni the only Bisons that picked up hits. Kendall Graveman was stellar in the loss, scattering three hits over six innings and taking a shutout into the sixth inning.

Jorge Flores had three hits and Mike Crouse had two of his own with two RBIs as New Hampshire lost 3-2 in extras. Andy Burns also singled twice for the ‘Cats. Austin Biben-Dirkx was very good and gave up just one unearned run off three hits and a walk in six innings of work.

Pierce Rankins led the way with two hits including to a double to go along with a walk as Dunedin won 4-3. Peter Mooney chipped in with two RBIs while Shane Opitz had a hit, drove in a run, walked and also stole a base. Jesse Hernandez gave up eight hits in six and one-third but was able to limit the damage to only three earned runs.

Earlier in the day, it was found out that 2012 supplemental first round pick LHP Matt Smoral has been promoted from Advanced Rookie to Short-Season A.
