Toronto Blue Jays Minor League Recap: Gustavo Pierre has perfect day

Buffalo Bisons (37-37)

The Bisons got a quality start out of veteran minor leaguer P.J. Walters to move back to .500. Offence was at a premium for both teams as the Bisons used a 3-run 3rd to beat Rochester Red Wings 3-2.

The bullpen gave the Bisons 4 innings of one run, 3 hit relief. The offence came in the Anthony Gose (RBI single and SB) and a Kevin Pillar 2-run home run. Brad Glenn extended his hit streak to 7 games with a single. Pillar is hitting .405/.450/.622 since being demoted by the Jays….just goes to show the difference between major league  competition and Triple-A competition. Gose on the hand had 3K and collected his first hit since being sent down…..just does seem to get it.

Every starter, expect Jack Murphy, got at least one hit. Kenny Wilson and Mike Crouse had 3-hit games. Kenny Wilson is carrying a 6-game hit streak and is hitting .435/.435/.478 over this time. Jon Berti is also in the midst of a 6-game hit streak and is hitting .293/.341/.366 in his past 10 games. Crouse had a day to remember and one that we all wish we could see a lot more of. He has only issued 12 walks over 86IP. Jeremy has not lost in 11 starts, has not issued more than 2 free passes in any start, and only pitch less than 5.0 innings once (4.2IP in his first start of the year).

Matt Dean hit his 3rd home run and Micheal Reeves had a 3-hit day for the Lugnuts. Chaz Frank drew 2 walks and has now gotten on base safely in 10 straight, and has been on base in 16 streak games.

Reading “SB(27)” next to Dalton Pompey’s name is a good, good feeling.

    • http://jaysjournal.com/ Michael Wray

Even better when it’s in only 29 attempts!

      • RyanMueller

That is a lot different than when Gose actually stole bases. Gose always seems to steal a lot and get caught a lot in the lower minors. Now he just get caught a lot. Pompey seems to have a better understanding on when to run and can read the pitcher better.

    • RyanMueller

Can’t wait to see how he does in NH….I have been waiting patiently.

  • Andrew van Laar

Seems like the Canadians are stealing their way to wins! Impressive SB numbers so far this season :)

    • RyanMueller

They also show flashes of extra base power in them. Good start for franklin has me excited

Ya he’s doing great so far! Who is this Roemon Fields character? I have never heard of him before. I am assuming he is an international signing?

        • RyanMueller

Fields is a great story. Take a look at Globe BC under the title
          Vancouver Canadians: Roemon Fields
It aired on june 20th. Love these stories.

            Nice :) That’s a feel good story!

I wondered the same thing that you did. I didn’t remember him being drafted or signed. He is old for the C’s but he could be a guy like Chaz Frank that gets moved thru the system a lil quicker.
