Minor League Report: New faces in Buffalo make impact

Buffalo Bisons (26-21)

Toronto Blue Jays’ 14th rank prospect Deck McGuire made his Buffalo debut on Monday and earned his first Triple-A victory. The 2010 first round pick (11th overall) was promoted to Buffalo after dominating Double-A hitters. Allowing 2 earn runs on 6 hits in 5.2 innings, McGuire showed that he can throw strikes by throwing 61 of his 97 pitches in the zone. Esmil Rogers also made his first appearance for the Bisons on Monday, bridging the gap between McGuire and Bobby Korecky. Brad Glenn continued his hot streak by going a perfect 4-4 with a homerun shy of the cycle in the win. Also making his Triple-A debut was A.J. Jimenez (9th ranked prospect,) who went  2-5 Monday night.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats (17-33)

Andy Burns hit his third homer of the season in a losing effort against the Portland Sea Dogs. The Fisher Cats offense was quiet on Monday as they were only able to collect 6 hits (all singles with the exception of Burns’ home run) in the contest. Scott Copeland went a 7 innings in the game, but allowed 5 runs on 11 hits en route to his fifth lost of the season .

Lansing Lugnuts (24-26)

The Lugnuts drop to two games under .500 after being blown out by the South Bend Sliver Hawks 9-2. D.J. Davis, Dawel Lugo and Mitch Nay led the way with two hits each, but not much from the offense after that. Chase De Jong didn’t make it out of the fifth inning and Alonzo Gonzalez didn’t fair any better against Sliver Hawks hitters.
