The Toronto Blue Jays have released eight minor league players from the organization.

Per transaction logs on Minor League Baseball's website, the Toronto Blue Jays have released eight minor league players from their organization.

None of the group have made their big league debut yet, but there are a few names who have been around the organization for a while.

Pitchers: Sean Rackoski, Nathan Witt, Alex Nolan

Catcher: Chris Bec

Infielders: John Aiello, Hugo Cardona, Cullen Large

Outfielder: Amell Brazoban

Starting with Sean Rackoski, the 6-foot-7 righty had been in the organization since 2018, functioning as an oft-used relief pitcher. The 27-year-old made it all the way up to Triple-A last year but had a combined 6.45 ERA in 38 appearances and 44+ innings last year between Triple-A and Double-A. With all of the newly added minor league depth, Rackoski seemed to be expendable.

Nathan Witt, 26, has been a farmhand in both the Dodgers' and Rays' systems. He, like Rackoski, has struggled with consistency throughout his minor league career and didn't have a clear spot on the team. Last year, he made 25 appearances for the Rays' Double-A affiliate, posting a 7.53 ERA in 28.2 innings pitched. He has begun his campaign to land with another organization on Twitter, we wish him the best of luck.

Alex Nolan, 27, made it up to High-A last year, but the results just were not there for him. He struck out 11.2 batters per nine innings, but had a 6.17 ERA thanks to 16 earned runs surrendered in just over 23 innings pitched.

Chris Bec, 27, hasn't hit enough at any stop in his minor league career, but he represented some decent depth at catcher in the high minors, so his release is a bit of a surprise. He made it up to Triple-A last year but will test the open market for the upcoming campaign.

John Aiello, 26, looked to be a decent corner infielder for the Jays. He made it up to Triple-A last year and had a combined .298 average in 91 games split between two affiliates. He has decent gap power and some still-developing home run pop, but his development will have to continue on a new club.

Hugo Cardona, 23, has absolutely no bat to speak of and has not rated out very well on defense either, despite playing all over the diamond. His minor league career has seen him hit just four home runs in over 220 games with a .215 average.

Cullen Large, 27, is yet another utility-type player the Jays cut bait with. He had been in the organization since 2017. He spent each of the last two seasons in Triple-A, struggling with strikeouts and not reaching base enough to warrant his long-term inclusion on this roster.

Amell Brazoban, 21, has decent speed and is still working on improving his outfield defense, but he doesn't hit much and has a hard time making his way on base. In 56 games last year between two minor league levels, he had a .207 average with just 15 walks in over 170 at-bats.
