New Hampshire Fisher Cats vs Portland Sea Dogs (Loss 3-4)

A night of catch up for the Cats fell just short as they were not able to complete the comeback in the 10th.  A solid team effort overall but the Sea Dogs were just a touch better Wednesday.  Taylor Cole once again pitched well as he threw 6.1 innings and allowed only 2 runs.  He was able to strike out an impressive 6 batters through his work and allowed only 5 hits and 2 walks.  Dustin Antolin would allow a run after coming in for Cole in the 7th.  Antolin settled in and pitched well through the 8th.  Will Browning would come on in the 9th and pitched a shut out inning.  With the game still tied the game moved into the 10th where Portland got to Browning and scored a run to take the 4-3 lead and the win after retiring the Cats bats in the bottom of the inning.

Shane Opitz tied the game up in the 9th inning with a 2 run homer in a clutch at bat to tie the game up at 3.  Until the home run in the 9th Jorge Flores had recorded the only RBI on a single in the 2nd inning.  The Cats bats were hitting but not at opportune moments.  They were able to collect 10 hits and 5 walks but were unable to bring in the bulk.  They only went 1-8 with runners in scoring position Wednesday.  That hurts not being able to bring those runners home and was the Cats undoing in this one.

Line of the game

Shane Opitz 2-4 with the 2 run homer that tied the game
