New Hampshire Fisher Cats @ Reading Fightin Phils (Loss 6-12)
With offense in high supply in this game Casey Lawrence got roughed up. Over 3.2 innings he would surrender 8 earned runs on 12 hits. This included one of Destin Hood’s 2 home runs. The 2 run Hood homer would end Lawrence’s day. Danny Barnes would come on and have similar issues with Hood and the rest of the Phils lineup. He would also surrender a 2 run homer to Hood. Through 2.1 innings he would surrender 3 runs on 3 hits. It was not the pitching staffs day.
Offensively you would usually win a game in which you hit 4 home runs but they just did not put anything else on the board with the homers. A 6 run showing would normally be enough but the Phils offense was just to hot to handle in this one. Dwight Smith Jr., Ryan Schimpf, and K.C. Hobson each hit a solo home run. Jorge Flores would collect a 2-run home run to add to the total. 5 runs were scored via the home run. If a few more Cats could have been prowling the bases with those home runs this could have been a different game.
Line of the game
K.C. Hobson 2-4 with a home run, 2 runs scored, and an RBI
