The Jays minor league system were blanked, taking the loss in each game played. Buffalo lost a well pitched game, and New Hampshire and Lansing were thumped in their defeats. We take a peak at a few top performers from the Dominican Summer League which got under way this week.

Buffalo Bisons (27-28, 4th)

Felix Doubront (L 0-1, 1.00ERA) allowed Louisville to score two runs in the first inning, but shut the door the rest of the way; unfortunately, the Herd’s offence left their bats at home in this as they lost 2-1.

Doubront was taken over the CF wall by the second batter he faced. The next batter doubled and was followed by a throwing error by Matt Hague put runners at 2nd and 3rd.  The next batter hit groundball out but it was enough to cash in the second run of the inning.

Doubront pitched 5 innings, allowed 4 hits, 2 runs, 3BB and 8 strikeouts on 99 pitches, but was undone by that first frame.

Chad Jenkins and Phil Coke were almost perfect over the next 3 innings, allowing no runs on 4 hits.

The Bison’s offence finally showed up in the 5th inning when Andy Burns walked, Josh Thole singled, and Dalton Pompey singled Burns home for the Herd’s only run.

Chris Dickerson had a good day at the plate with 2 hits and a stolen base.
