Here’s a complete recap of everything that happened to the Jays’ minor league affiliates yesterday, April 15:

Fresno Grizzlies 11, Las Vegas 51s 7

Hitting:

In the 51s home opener, Brett Lawrie hit a double and two singles while scoring three runs — including one on a fielding error in the 3^rd inning — upping his average to .462 on the season. Outfielder Eric Thames looked great yet again; going 3-for-4 with two doubles, a HBP, and David Cooper added a pair of RBI singles and a walk. It was also a nice day for Canadian Adam Loewen, who went 1-for-3 with 2 RBIs and 2 walks.

Jays Minors Transactions Review: July ’10 to Feb ’11

With Spring Training kicking off this week, I thought it would be important and interesting to take a look at the last minor league transactions completed by the Jays. In order to get the best feel for what came and went in the minors, I’ll simply include the additions and subtractions from the Jays affiliates. The time period covered below is end of July 2010 to the last week, which I believe gives us a pretty decent review of changes made to the depth charts, some of which may have been missed by Jays fans.

Also, now that we will have covered the latest and greats of the minors transactions over the last 9 months, we will also be updating all Jays minors transactions in our new “Jays Minors Transactions” page, so check back there from time to time if you’re curious about what’s happening in the Jays affiliates and depth chart.

Blue Jays Sign Two Lefties To Minor League Deals

According to Matt Eddy of Baseball America, the Jays have signed left-handed reliever Mike Hinckley and re-signed left-handed reliever/spot starter Willie Collazo to minor league contracts.

Hinckley, who last played in the Majors in 2009 where he walked 11 in 9.2 innings, was a 3rd round pick by the Montreal Expos in 2001. He could have ties to current Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos from when he was with the Expos prior to starting to work with the Blue Jays in 2003. (more…)
