Complete Prospect Report: June 1-2

Excluding the Dominican Summer League, all Jays affiliates played games each of the last two days, good for a total of eight games worth reviewing.

Highlights include a complete game by Brett Cecil in Vegas, a trademark start by Joel Carreno in New Hampshire, impressive rehab showings by Adam Lind in Dunedin, and a wild walk-off win in Lansing.

Also, in minor league news and according to the Jays’ official site, Josh Roenicke was claimed off waivers by Colorado when he was removed from the 40-man roster, likely for some Canadian stud at Triple-A. In his final appearance as a part the Blue Jays organization, Roenicke struck out all four batters he faced on Wednesday in 1.1 innings. Before Wednesday though, Roenicke had a 6.43 ERA and 5.96 FIP in 15 appearances this season.

Jays Minors Transactions Review: July ’10 to Feb ’11

With Spring Training kicking off this week, I thought it would be important and interesting to take a look at the last minor league transactions completed by the Jays. In order to get the best feel for what came and went in the minors, I’ll simply include the additions and subtractions from the Jays affiliates. The time period covered below is end of July 2010 to the last week, which I believe gives us a pretty decent review of changes made to the depth charts, some of which may have been missed by Jays fans.

Also, now that we will have covered the latest and greats of the minors transactions over the last 9 months, we will also be updating all Jays minors transactions in our new “Jays Minors Transactions” page, so check back there from time to time if you’re curious about what’s happening in the Jays affiliates and depth chart.

Wil Ledezma Outrighted to Triple-A Las Vegas, Another Move Coming?

According to an official press release, the Blue Jays have outrighted Wil Ledezma, who they acquired just six days ago, to Triple-A Las Vegas. He will now be a non-roster invitee to Spring Training.

As Mat pointed out in his article on here after the Jays claimed Ledezma off waivers from the Pirates, the Jays are familiar with him, as they signed him to a Minor League contract in 2009.

Wil Ledezma Added to The Jays – Again!

The Jays added yet another arm to the pen, this time a waiver claim, as they added a much needed Left Handed Pitcher (LHP) in soon to be 30-year old Wil Ledezma.

Ledezma will be paid $300,000 if he spends ’11 in the minors and $700,000 if he spends it in the majors. I imagine that anything in between would be pro-rated based on service time.

For more basic information on Ledezma, he stands at 6’4″ 225 lbs and hails from Guarico Venezuela. He was signed as an international free agent by the Red Sox in 1998 and stayed with them until the Tigers drafted him from them in the 2002 rule 5 draft. He made his MLB debut with the Tigers the following year and stayed with them until 2007 when he was traded to the Braves for Macay McBride. (more…)
