Jays Minors Transactions Review: July ’10 to Feb ’11

With Spring Training kicking off this week, I thought it would be important and interesting to take a look at the last minor league transactions completed by the Jays. In order to get the best feel for what came and went in the minors, I’ll simply include the additions and subtractions from the Jays affiliates. The time period covered below is end of July 2010 to the last week, which I believe gives us a pretty decent review of changes made to the depth charts, some of which may have been missed by Jays fans.

Also, now that we will have covered the latest and greats of the minors transactions over the last 9 months, we will also be updating all Jays minors transactions in our new “Jays Minors Transactions” page, so check back there from time to time if you’re curious about what’s happening in the Jays affiliates and depth chart.

Wil Ledezma Outrighted to Triple-A Las Vegas, Another Move Coming?

According to an official press release, the Blue Jays have outrighted Wil Ledezma, who they acquired just six days ago, to Triple-A Las Vegas. He will now be a non-roster invitee to Spring Training.

As Mat pointed out in his article on here after the Jays claimed Ledezma off waivers from the Pirates, the Jays are familiar with him, as they signed him to a Minor League contract in 2009.

Jays Minors Review: 29-Apr-10

Here is a review of the major events in the minors for the Jays on Thursday, 29th of April:

AAA Las Vegas – Won 3-1 vs Colorado Springs

The 51s were the recipients of Robert Ray‘s best start of the year. He gave them 6 innings of work, only giving up 5 hits and 1 ER while striking out 4 (no walks). The outing earned Ray his 2nd win of the year and lowered his ERA to 4.57.
Steven Register (5.02), David Purcey (3.00), and Jeremy Accardo (0.00) all chipped in with 1 shutout inning a piece that had Accardo earning his 1st save of the season.
RF Chris Aguila (.311) was 2 for 4 with a double while batting leadoff, and Jarrett Hoffpauir (.324) followed him up with a 2 for 3 day. Of note in this game was that Jarrett manned 3B instead of 2B, adding to his repertoire and possible utility role qualifications.

Romero Gets Taste of Doc’s Anguish as a Jay

I could sit here and describe the9-3 loss to everyone, but what it all boils down to is a bitter taste in Ricky Romero‘s mouth for the second game in a row. The first time was due to a lack of offense, when he pitched 8 innings of 1 run ball against the Angels, only to lose the game 2 to 1 because the offense couldn’t knock in any runs. He was better in that game than he was tonight, allowing only 5 hits and getting 6 Ks, but the feeling is the same. He left tonight’s game with the lead, 3 to 2, and had to feel like he did all he could despite not having his best stuff. He pitched out of some tight spots, but still ended up with only 6 hits allowed, 3 walks, and 2 ER.

Jays Minors Review: 23-Apr-10

Here is a review of the major events in the minors for the Jays on Friday, 23rd of April:

AAA Las Vegas –Lost 6-4 to Salt Lake (LAA)

LV ran into a hot pitcher Friday, as top prospect Trevor Reckling limited them to 1 run over his 5.1 innings of work.
Robert Ray took the loss after allowing 6 ER over 4.1 IP. He allowed 9 hits and 4 walks in the game.
Brett Wallace hit his 7th HR of the season in this one, with JP Arencibia joining in with his 2nd HR.
Steven Register had a great relief appearance for LV, going 2.1 innings while allowing no hits and 1 walk, striking out 3 in the process.
