Toronto Blue Jays scores and analysis for minor league games played on Tuesday, August 2nd

Buffalo Bisons (55-55)   –   1

GAME ONE

A solo home run from Darrell Ceciliani was the only Bisons’ offence in this one as they managed just four hits. A.J. Jimenez went 2-for-4 and Andy Burns singled. Casey Lawrence pitched all six innings, allowing five runs (two earned) on four hits, walking two and striking out two.

Erik Kratz got the start behind the plate in game two and went 2-for-2 with a double, two runs scored, and a walk. Ceciliani singled and scored while Matt Dominguez doubled and drove in a pair. Pat Venditte got the start, pitching four shutout innings and striking out four. Aaron Loup (1.0 IP, 2 H, 3 K), Dustin Antolin (1.0 IP, BB, K), and Ryan Tepera (1.0 IP) rounded out the relief effort. Tepera earned his 16th save of the season.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats (48-60)   –   6
Akron RubberDucks (55-55)   –   4

New Hampshire pounded out 14 hits, with six players recording two-hit games. Emilio Guerrero had the lone home run, a two-run shot in the fourth. Roemon Fields doubled and drove in two while Rowdy Tellez went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Tellez also stole his fourth bag of the season.

Jeremy Gabryszwski got New Hampshire started with five innings, allowing three runs on four hits before being picked up by the Smiths. Murphy Smith pitched two perfect frames and Chris Smith picked up his eighth save with two innings on the back end.

Max Pentecost keeps on hitting as the DH went 2-for-4 with two RBI, bringing his average to .311. Justin Atkinson was 2-for-4 while Jake Thomas doubled and scored at the top of the lineup.

Justin Maese found some bats, but still turned in a reasonable performance allowing four runs (three earned) over five and a third on nine hits. Maese struck out four and did not issue a walk. Daniel Young pitched two-thirds of an innings and Tom Robson (2.0 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 4 K) took the rest.

Bluefield Blue Jays (19-19)   –   5

Yennsy Diaz was the star, striking out eight batters in six shutout innings and allowing just two hits. In the young Dominican’s seventh game of the season, he turned in his best career outing and has something to build on now with Bluefield. Andrew Deramo, Chris Hall, and Connor Eller picked up the back end with a scoreless inning each.

Starting at third, Cuban Javier Monzon hit his first home run with the Bluefield Jays, a solo shot in the eighth, after putting up some nice power numbers in a short GCL stint. Catching prospect Matt Morgan also added a solo home run. Juandy Mendoza drove in a pair while Nick Sinay went 1-for-2 with a walk, two runs scored, and two stolen bases to give him 16 on the season.
