Toronto Blue Jays scores and analysis for minor league games played on Sunday, July 31st

Buffalo Bisons (55-44)   –   6
Syracuse Chiefs (48-60)   –   5

The top of the Bisons’ lineup got the job done as they moved back above .500. Darrell Ceciliani hit a two-run home run while Ryan Goins went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI and a run scored. Dalton Pompey singled, doubled, and scored twice out of the leadoff spot.

Chris Leroux had an uneven outing, but got the job done. The Canadian allowed five runs (four earned) on just three hits, walking three and striking out two. Bo Schultz pitched a clean frame and handed off to Danny Barnes, who moved his triple-A ERA to 0.51 with a scoreless eighth. Ryan Tepera worked around two hits and a walk to pick up his 15th save.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats (47-60)   –   1
Richmond Flying Squirrels (45-61)   –   4

The Fisher Cats managed just six singles and did not work a walk. Christian Lopes had the lone RBI and Rowdy Tellez went 0-for-4 with a strikeout. Roemon Fields stole second and third in his one time on base, giving him 37 on the season.

Conner Greene allowed four earned runs over five and a third on three hits and three walks, moving his double-A ERA to 4.28 in six games. Tim Mayza walked two in his two-thirds innings of relief and Brady Dragmire capped it off with two scoreless.

Anthony Alford isn’t slowing down. The centre-fielder went 2-for-4 with a walk, double, RBI, and two runs scored. Richard Urena followed suit with a 2-for-5 day and Jonathan Davis went 2-for-4. Catcher Danny Jansen drove in three, including a walk-off sacrifice fly that scored Alford in the bottom of the ninth.

Francisco Rios got the job done on the mound, allowing four runs (three earned) on three hits over five innings, striking out seven. Alonzo Gonzalez allowed just one run and struck out a pair in three relief innings before Dusty Isaacs earned the win with a clean ninth.

Lansing Lugnuts (54-52)   –   2
Fort Wayne TinCaps (51-55)   –   3

Lansing dropped this one in a walk-off as the TinCaps got the big hit from Tyler Selesky. Connor Panas tripled in a 1-for-3 day, scoring once. Jake Thomas picked up the lone RBI in a 2-for-4 day while DH Max Pentecost went 0-for-4.

Ryan Borucki looked very strong, throwing seven innings of one-run ball. The lefty allowed eight hits, struck out three and did not issue a walk. Kirby Snead (1.2 IP, 3 H, 2 ER) was hit with the loss.

Vancouver Canadians (19-25)   –   3
Tri-City Dust Devils (20-24)   –   1

John Anderson led the way offensively, going 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored out of the cleanup spot. J.B. Woodman doubled, scored, and struck out three times. Third-baseman Bryan Lizardo was 2-for-3.

Luis Sanchez pitched well, allowing just one run on four hits in his five and two-thirds innings while striking out five. Geno Encina (1.1 IP, 3 H, 2 K), Zach Jackson (1.0 IP, 2 H), and Griffin Glaude (1.0 IP, S, 2 K) rounded out the bullpen effort.

The Blue Jays managed just two hits in five innings before the game was called due to rain in the bottom of the fifth. Bradley Jones‘ seventh home run of the season accounted for the only RBI while Vladimir Guerrero Jr. doubled. Juliandry Higuera allowed three runs over four innings on five hits, striking out two batters.
