The Blue Jays Monday Morning Mailbag returns to take your questions on the MLB trade deadline, top Blue Jays pitching prospects, potential September call-ups and more

The Toronto Blue Jays enter the All-Star break at 51-40, two games behind the division-leading Baltimore Orioles and even with the Boston Red Sox.

Josh Donaldson, Edwin Encarnacion, Marco Estrada, Michael Saunders, and Aaron Sanchez are headed to San Diego for the All-Star Game. Marcus Stroman, Troy Tulowitzki, Devon Travis, and Ryan Goins are headed to Cabo.

The Blue Jays Monday Morning Mailbag stays put, though, taking your reader and viewer questions (in a special blurred-vision edition).

The upcoming MLB Trade Deadline will be the headlining topic for the next three weeks, so we discuss Sonny Gray and how, despite being an unlikely acquisition for the Blue Jays, his contract structure does represent something that Toronto’s front office may prioritize over short-term rentals.

Next season could see some or all of Encarnacion, Saunders, Jose Bautista, R.A. Dickey, Brett Cecil, Jason Grilli, Jesse Chavez and more depart via free agency. It’s conceivable that the Blue Jays look to not only bolster this year’s roster for a playoff run, but also acquire some added years of team control to keep the team’s “window” open.

September call-ups will soon be a conversation, too, so we discuss a few different “types” of players that the Blue Jays will be considering when the time comes.
