Toronto Blue Jays scores and analysis for minor league games played on

Buffalo Bisons (39-34) – 8
Louisville Bats (36-36) – 1

A blowout inning and a total of seven free passes to Bison hitters was the difference in this game.  Bats starter Amir Garrett was on fire for the first five innings but then got wild and walked three batters in the 6th inning where the Herd got running.  Big hits in the inning with runners on led to seven runs being scored.

Jesus Montero collected three RBIs and a run scored on two hits.  His batting average remains right around the .300 mark as he continues to impress.  Andy Burns and Tony Sanchez each picked up a pair of RBIs during the late offensive surge.  David Adams continues to hit well as he had another hit and scored twice.  He has had a hit in all but one game during his last 10 starts.  The Bisons hit an impressive 5-for-10 with runners in scoring position during the game.

On the mound Chris Leroux was masterful for 6.0 innings.  He allowed just one unearned run on four hits and pair of walks.  He also struck out six and eventually picked up the win.  Danny Barnes and Dustin Antolin closed the door and only allowed two more base runners over the remaining three innings.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats (31-40) – 1
Erie Sea Wolves (32-42) – 2

More from Toronto Blue Jays Prospects

A struggling offence had trouble getting to the Wolves pitchers Wednesday.  The low scoring affair netted only three Cats hits and a run.  Shane Dawson pitched well but allowed a run in the first inning to let the Wolves get a running start.  Dawson pitched 5.0 innings and allowed one run on four hits and three walks.  Murphy Smith pitched the remainder and allowed the 2nd run in the 8th to allow the Wolves to take the win.

The game-winning home run off of Smith came off the bat of Connor Harrell for his 7th of the season.  Dwight Smith Jr. supplied the only offense for the Cats on a solo homer run in the 7th.  His 5th home run of the season tied the game at one but that was short-lived.  Smith continues to look locked in at the plate and has picked up a hit in nine of his past ten games.

Dunedin Blue Jays (33-36) – 5
Brevard County Manatees (23-45) -1

Good pitching and timely hitting brought a win to the D-Jays Wednesday.  A pair of 2-RBI performances led the offence to a 5-run game.  Ryan McBroom plated two runners on a double in the 3rd to give the D-Jays the lead.  McBroom now has 40 RBIs for the D-Jays this season and leads the team in that category.  Jonathan Davis currently sits second in that category and scored a couple more RBIs Wednesday to raise his total to 37 for the year.  Aaron Attaway was the only D-Jay to have multiple hits, including a double, as he scored twice.

On the mound Chris Rowley mowed down Manatee hitters.  He pitched five innings and allowed just one run on four hits without walking a batter.  He also sat down six hitters via the strikeout.  The only bad pitch he appeared to throw was a ball that Jose Cuas hit over the wall in the 3rd inning for his 3rd home run of the season.  The bullpen followed Rowley’s lead and no hit the Manatees over the remaining four innings.

Vancouver Canadians (3-3) – 4
Everett Aquasox (3-3) – 6

A rough night for the defence led to a loss for Justin Maese.  Two Canadians errors led to four unearned runs while Maese was on the mound.  Maese pitched six innings innings, allowing two earned runs (four unearned) on eight hits and a walk.  He worked five strikeouts into his performance as wekk.

The ‘pen had better luck and pitched three scoreless innings to give the offence a chance to come back.  Jacob Anderson led the way with a two-hit performance and drove in a pair with his first double of the season.  Yeltsin Gudino also had a multi-hit game with a double, a run scored, and an RBI.  This years 5th-round pick Cavan Biggio picked up his fifth hit in two games as he settles into pro ball.
