The Blue Jays’ loss on Sunday moved Marcus Stroman‘s ERA to 5.23, and 2016’s expected staff ace is still searching for answers on the mound

It’s Monday, and after Sunday’s lopsided loss to the Baltimore Orioles, you’re probably not feeling particularly warm towards the sport of baseball.

Marcus Stroman’s rough outing took the headline. The young right-hander was pulled after three and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on 10 hits. While Stroman did not issue a walk, he was unable to produce the high ground ball rate that has been his biggest strength. In recent starts, he’s seen a jump in fly balls, line drives, and his hard-hit percentage.

Over his last seven starts, Stroman has posted a 7.59 ERA and allowed 60 hits over 40.1 innings pitched. He’s been hit especially hard when facing American League East rivals. With just 254.0 innings under his belt at the MLB level, though, Stroman is still a work in progress with special talent that deserves a world of patience from the Blue Jays and their fan base.

So instead of taking questions this week, we’re talking all Stroman. Tweet in your questions for upcoming shows – which will become a little more frequent as we move throughout the summer – to myself at @KeeganMatheson or the website at @JaysJournal.
